Fashion capitals around the world celebrated the second annual Fashion’s Night Out on Sept. 10. L.A.’s Rodeo Drive did it big, bringing in the street’s first-ever four-story Ferris wheel and hosting a life-size Fashion Rules trivia game with celebrities, stylists and editors. More than 300 stores throughout L.A. participated in the event that featured goodies like celebrity appearances, spinning deejays, art fixtures, new product introductions, gifts with purchase and even complimentary manicures. The Beverly Center held its own fashion block party and featured a host of celebrity and designer guests.
Fashion’s Night Out was initiated last year by Vogue’s Anna Wintour to encourage the public to style shop. The event is unique in that it is not closed to fashion designers and the like, but is open to the public. Many of the participating venues offered shoppers free food and drinks, welcoming them to take an interest in fashion and shop freely. This year more than 100 cities and more than 1,000 retailers took part in Fashion’s Night Out. It’s a good way to boost the economy and looking good while doing it.
